I will be focusing on katy perrys music video "The One That Got Away" to highlight the conventions of a pop video. It is important to analyse a key pop artist to ensure that you are not deviating away from the actual genre. Certain conventions are characteristic with different genres, so it was imperative that i picked a definite pop song.
Throughout this pop video it includes very lovey scenes, with a lot of actions associated with love. Such as a man and a woman kissing, laughing and cuddling all these scenes relate to the idea of love and affection which are common throughout pop videos.
Another convention often used in pop videos are abstract clothes and makeup, many artists want to stand out and have that 'edgy' look so therefore may dress provocatively or just plain weird. This gives them the edge which gives them the look of an 'artist' and deviates their image from being shown to the younger generation.
