Website Analysis

In order to get the perfect website it is important that I analyse a certain number of established 'POP' artist's websites. I have descided to choose

-Justin Bieber
- Rihanna

Here you can see that the colour scheme of Justin Bieber is a classic black white and yellow, the black andwhite contrast against eachother and the red stands out, this could be something that we could use in the design of our website. Having something that stands out and feels like a pop website ensures that people will access this page, whether it be to link with the latest single, to access live feed or get to know the actual pop artist. Having a classic theme with a splash of colour ensures that your webpage stands out from the others.

The images used on this website clearly tell us that it is about Justin Bieber, they have close ups, medium shots and large shots that take over the page, this I believe is because the creators of this website understand that Justin Bieber sells to girls, young girls that have a 'crush' on him. So therefore by putting large images over the website, it is using his selling point to make the website popular. The only thing that I would PERSONALLY comment on would be the consistent pose throughout all the images, this could have been changed to make it slightly mroe interesting..
On the website you can access behind the scenes footage on the creation of their music video.

The typography on this website is detailed and holds links to different selling stores of his album, it enables you to download directly from iTunes, you can access videos, it has a countdown to the release of his album. The detailed wording makes the website look professional and sells his album more than the pictures, it is a good idea to use a lot of links about tour dates and information to ensure the album will sell and this is something that I will contribute in the making of the website.

Justin Biebers target audience is young girls, and therefore by plastering pictures of their 'dream' boyfriend they are then selling the product, a lot of girls will access the website, see the pictures and instantly want to look further. Which then creates a lot of potential buyers for his album.

RIHANNA

Rihannas website seems a lot more mordern, and seems to have been done to a much higher standard.

The colour scheme of rihannas seems to be a grey and white with different colours splashed on different pages. She is always the one in colour or is always the picture that stands out, by having such a changing website it shocks people into looking further into her website. This could mean that these people could potentially buy her album.

The images of the website are very revealing and very sexual, Rihanna knows that sex sells and by posting pictures of her half naked she is taking advantage of the male gaze. She looks like she has the type of attitude where 'Every man wants her and Every woman wants to BE her' this is the look that the website is going for. By having this look she is ensuring that she has a target audience of both men and women. All the images are enlarged to highlight her assets and to increase the visual experience.

The typography of the website is very little, very basic links are used e.g. arrows 'Live' 'Shop' 'Press' 'Me' 'See', I believe that she has used less typography as she has used a lot more photography, and by using basic simple words she is not confusing her audience.

From looking at this website it is clear that rihanna and Justin Bieber understand what their selling point is and the website highlights this, for example Justin Bieber knows that young girls adore him so therefore posts 'cute' pictures where he is looking into the camera, potentially dazzling his fans that access his website. Rihanna on the other hand knows that her body and her 'look' sells and therefore accentuates this by adding revealing pictures and very little words. Overall I think that Rihannas website is most successful as the shock of the website is what makes is memorable.
